But for Black women, the effects of this condition go far deeper than blood glucose levels. It touches our bodies, minds, families, and communities—and often, it does so in silence. Did you know? <ul><li>Black women are nearly twice as likely to be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes compared to white women.</li><li>Diabetes is one of the leading causes of death among Black women.</li><li>Many women don’t know they have it until serious complications arise. </li></ul>At Glorious Life Academy, we believe in breaking cycles—both generational and biological—through faith, knowledge, and action. <hr><h3 id="90386670-66e8-40c6-b913-9a5c258a3b34" data-toc-id="90386670-66e8-40c6-b913-9a5c258a3b34">🔍What Is Diabetes, Really? </h3>Diabetes is a chronic condition that affects how your body processes sugar (glucose). There are two main types: <ul><li>Type 1: Autoimmune (mostly diagnosed early in life). </li><li>Type 2: Lifestyle and genetics-related (more common in adults). </li></ul>In type 2 diabetes, either the body doesn’t produce enough insulin or can’t use it effectively. Inadequate healthcare access Many Black women don’t receive early screening or proper follow-up care. 5.
